Hey Girl Hey was founded by Meredith Smith, Monica Morris and Sun Smith. The 1st meeting was held in Cincinnati, Ohio in May of 2011. Shortly there after Tami Lunan & Rashida Manual were added to the HGH leadership team that brings you Hey Girl Hey. The initial intent of Hey Girl Hey was to bring women--both queer and straight--to discuss a variety of topics, such as women & sexuality, gender roles, politics, discrimination, popular culture and more. Our intention is to create a sense of community amongst us all, eat, laugh, drink. We owe this to ourselves and others to teach and learn from each other in a safe environment. As Hey Girl Hey is dealing with issues pertaining to Queer and Straight Women of Color (QSWC) our audience is predominately made up of QSWC. However, we welcome allies who are willing to engage and support the mission of Hey Girl Hey.
The mission of Hey Girl Hey is to provide a safe space for QWOC, Trans, & Allies to restore and empower thru facilitating dialogue, creating community, & LGBTQ Advocacy.
